Money Supply and Its Role in Economic Growth

This article examines the current trends in the development of cash circulation in the Republic of Bulgaria in connection with the intensified debates in foreign media and analyses of the need for a decisive limitation of cash and the mass use of non-cash payments. A comparative study of the place and role of cash in the economies of some EU countries, as well as the most important word economics system, whose financial systems are very clearly pursuing a policy of transition to a "cashless world", etc.The main economic and social factors influencing the "payment infrastructure" in different countries and the prospects for the development of cash flows and economic growth in their relationship with non-cash payments in the world over the next decade are also analyzed. The specifics of the development of cash in the Republic of Bulgaria in the period since 2014 and its relationship with economic growth in the context of the currency board and the upcoming accession to the euro currency area are studied.
